PROPOSAL TO BORROW £1000 CARRIED. A poll taken yesterday by the Ma--kara County Council for the purpose of raisingia special loan'of £1000 was carried. The money Will be expended in constructing , new bridges "to replace those which were destroyed by flood in November, 1915, and also 'to repair damage caused by ,tlie same flood to other bridges and roads throughout the Porirua Riding of the Makara County. The voting resulted as fellows:— For the proposal 89 Against the proposal ....... 21 Informal 1 ■Total 11l According to the lAct,. if. the. valid votes in favour of the proposal are three-fifths of the total votes recorded at the poll tho proposal is carried. The proposal was therefore ca-ried by .23 votes. ... . '
