CITY RESERVES
AND THE COMING PLANTING SEASON.
At Thursday's meeting of the City Council, it was decided, on tho recommendation of' the. -Reserves Committee, that provision be made in this year's estimates for- the remodelling of the sluubbery at the north-western corner of the Basin Reserve, by removing tho fence round the .triangle and laying tho area down in grass in order to extend the lawn; and' that authority be granted for the planting of further belts of trees on the women and children's playground on Mie Town ' Belt opposite AValceheld .. Park during the coming planting., season. In connection with the recent deputation from tho Hataitai Ratepayers' As. sociation, the Reserves Committee has : decided to visit tho locality shortly. ' Recently the Island Bay Municipal Electors' Association waited on the Reserves Committee to urge the acquisition of Mr. Brodrick's section of land opposite tho "tramway terminus at Island Bay. The committee have asked the City-Valuer to value the land, which has been offered to tho . council for £1500. '
