PUBLIC BUILDINGS
NEW HEALTH PRECAUTIONS.
At tho fortnightly meeting of the City Council held last evening, the following conditions to .be observed in licensed public buildings were approved: Generally.—All public buildings shall be kept in good sanitary .condition, free from dirt- and accumulations of refuse or objectionable matter. Continuous Picture Theatres.—-Tlie walls, floors, soats, and other fittings shall bo thoroughly swept and dusted (Viilv, Nid, in addition, shall be thoroughly cleansed and disinfected in an approved planner at least once a week, and at such other periods as may be required from time to time hy tho City Engineer. Public Buildings Other Than Continuous Picture Theatres.—All public buildings other than continuous rricture theatres shall have floors,' walls, and fittings thoroughly swept and dusted after each occupation, and before further use is made of same, and, in r/fdition, shall bo thoroughly cleansed and disinfected at such intervals as may be required by the City Engineer. In cases where a matinee performance is given, the matinee and evening performance shall be deemed to be one performance. Tlie committee suggested that the council instruct tho Public Health Committco to make representations to the Government to have public schoolsand other public buildings dealt with in a similar manner to the above regulations. Councillor Fuller thought the above provisions should apply to courthouses and churches. Councillor Barber said that the council only had control over licensed buildings. '
