FORTNIGHTLY MEETING,

Veitch, M. F. Luckie, G.' Frost, John Hutc'hesou, W. H. Bennett, W. J. Thompson, J.'Fuller, T.Bush.'W. H. P. ; Barber, A. R-. Atkijisoh, zie| and .J. E. Fitzgerald were'present at the fortnightly meeting of the City Council held last evening.
The following recommendations of the Finance and Property Committee were agreed to:—That consent, be .granted for picture, performances on Good Friday, subject, to the programmes being
strictly censored by the Town ■ Clerk; that the tendor of Messrs. Tonks and Andrews be accepted for the supply of sand for the year 1916-17; that, the new road to Brooklyn be named '"Brooklyn Road" from its junction with Nairn Street to Seager's Corner; that the council resolve that -, fennel' shall be treated as noxious weed within the area.
under the jurisdiction of the Wellington City Council, as authorised by-Sec-tion 4'of the Noxious Weeds Act. 1908; that' a letter be sent to the Miramar Borough Council asking them to curtail the use of water in'the borough,'. in view of the shortage of the city's supply; that the Wellington Meat Export Company bo required to enter into an
arrangement for the payment of a miijimum_ amount of £65 per annum, payable in two half-yearly instalments for the use of water at their Ngahauranga works, and any water used in excess of the .half-yearly instalment: reckoned at 9d. per thousand gallons, to he-paid for over and above such half-yearly instalment; that Mr. C. B. Morison! K.C.; . be appointed assessor for the.council in the case Chote v. Corporation.' • : .•',-,': . The following recommendations of tho Tramways Committee iwereSadottted:—■ That the tender of Messrs. -Whitcombe and Tombs be accepted for the, supply, of printing and office books to the. Tramway and Lighting Department, such tender being the lowest and in order, and that' tho seal of the corporation be authorised to. be affixed to the .necessary acceptance and contract: that the following .'contract for advertising on the tram-cars he approved, and that' the seal of.the corporation be authorised'to be affixed to same, viz.: Messrs. Clarton, Hodgson and Co.; that .the wages of a tramway _ employee be made up 1 ' to full for the time he was incapacitated from work owing to an accident sustained whilst, on duty;, that an oxy-' acetylene welding plant be purchased for use at 'the tramway workshons; that the Richmond Free Kindergarten School authorities he informed that their request that the use of scholars concession tickets be extended to the students attending the kindergarten schools, cannot be acceded to. Tho committee reported- that tho agreement in'connection with the lighting of the Miramar Borough had been approved by the borough with the modifications outlined by the general manager of tho Lighting Department, and that they had given instructions to the City Solicitor to complete the matter. The committee recommended that the seal of the corporation l be authorised to tin nffivd to tho agreement. Tin's wa; agreed to. ■ • ■
