WEAR YOUR" BADGES,

Sir, —I fail to see why the two tramway men, spoken of in your paper this morning, take exception to being call-, cd shirkers. By not openly wearing their badges they are posing as shirkers. Then, why complain? A short time ago tho cry was "Why does not the Defence Department adopt some badge that wo may wear to show, that we are not shirkers?" And now that •this is an .accomplished fact, they, or many of' them, won't wear them, but hide them as they would something disv honourable. And why? Because they arc ugly. Tho excuse is only worthy of a silly school girl. To my mind such men are only getting what they are asking for when they are called shirkers. I should like, Mr. Editor, that the Government would issue a badge to mothers' whose boys have enlisted to distinguish them from the mothers who are allowing—perhaps encouraging— their boys to hide behind their petticoats. I think! Mr. Editor, that a sub-leader in The Dominion would have a good effect. —I am, etc., . A SOLDIER'S MOTHER. TWe are'in hearty agreement with our correspondent's view that tho6B who are entitled to wear badges should wear them on all occasions. _ His Majesty the King expressed a wish in that direction in England, and it was immediately .'complied with .by many thousands of men. The badges are Badges .'of Honour, and are also a rebuke to the shirker.] >
