HIS MAJESTY'S THEATBE.

A variety programme of unusual merit will be submitted by the .'Fuller Vaudeville Company'at His Majesty's Theatre ■: to-night. Several important additions to the personnel of the company are announced, and amongst the new engagements to appear, to-night' will be the Har- , rison Stuart Duo, a pair of coloured funniakers who will present their original comedy specialty entitled "Tho Ebony Servants." Mr. Alf. Holt, a recent arrival from America, will present song, . 6 lory, and mimicry. Mr. Eddie Burns, nn English comedian, who specialises ■in fancy wooden, shoe-dancing, will make his debut locally. The Misses May and June, : a team of dancers, will furnish'a series of terpsichorean specialties. Kipp and < Kippy, the favourite comedy jugglers, ' will reappear,, Entirely new / items will be given by Miss Amy Murphy and Miss i Nellie Black, Lawrence Johnston; Eloise Taylor, and the Mullaneys. The present programme is scheduled for six nights end the : usual week-end matinee. GABY DESLYS AT THE KING'S. The fame' of the fascinating French artist, Gaby Deslys, has reached these chores, and, although it'is unlikely that '. one shall see her in the flesh, at any rate for some time to come, the opportunity ' ■ to judge, of the wonderful charm, and ability of the great dancer will be given .'in the film story'of her life, entitled "Her Triumph," which is to be presented for the first, time at . the King's . Theatre to-night' No one appearing . before the public. to-day has reached a greater .popularity than Mdlle. Deslys. In the better class music-halls of Paris, London, and New York she is the brightest star of all,, both because of her dancing and acting, and because of her remarkable-personality. ' In the picture, "Her Triumph," Gaby Deslys reveals the fact that she has great acting abilityos one critic smartly puts it, "she can portray emotion as well as motion." In . addition to the star picture there, will he a well selected programme; including a Sidney Drew comedy, "How John Cnim Home," a'-fine ,comedy-drama, "The Seventh Day," a . beautifully coloured scenic, and the latest "Pathe Gazette." Commencing to-morrow there will be a matinee each afternoon. : ' VIOLA DANA IN "GLADIOLA." Miss Viola. Dana will be the big at-traction-.at Everybody's Theatre" to-daj;, in a- four-reel feacure drama, "Gladiola. Miss Dana- is well known to photo-play goers by reason of hor playing the principal parte in "The Stoning" and Children of Eve," etc., pictures'which had, a -wonderful' success "in" Wellington when '■■ 6hown a few months ago. /The play of ' "Gladiola" is rather original in its con- . ception, and-most of the scenes were taken in beautiful country where the gladioli flowers-.grow; in abundance. -Miss Viola Dana has, a part which is ideally 6uited to her t and her oharm of manner lends itself to the dramatic scenes which appear in the play. As a country, maid she enters into' the spirit of the pioture, and is ably assisted by,a star: cast, i Spine splendid pictures are shown in support, including "Wiffles .in War Time (a Pathe-colour comedy), "Gaumont Graphic," and "Making Big Shells." THE EMPRESS' THEATRE. . A picture that has received almost extravagant praise from Press and public wherever, •it has been shown .will be screened for the first time in Wellington to-day at the Empress Theatre, commencing at 11 a.m. "Mrs.; Black Is Back," as the picture is called, is from ' the stage comedy of the same name which achieved a remarkable success in New Y)Ork last year, it being, in fact, the outstanding success of' the season. 'In - tot a little .measure was its success due, to the. acting* of Miss May Irwin, ■America's leading comedienne. This eminent actress -was secured by:'the Famous Players Co. : when ■■ they obtained tho film rights of the; comedy, and she lias attained an even greater success in /the picture than-.she ; did on the stage. In ..support of the big picture is. the gopular "Path'e'tGazette" and a 'strong drama of a .coward, "The Assayer of lone .Gap." The programme will be shown all this week. " ; SUNDAY CONCERT. ' , Assisted- by Mr. Hamilton Hodges and the lady members of Mr. J; G. Turner's . mandoline orchestra,- the New Zealand ' Natives' Association Band gave another of its .popular■■ concerts, at His, Majesty's Theatre'last evening, under the baton of - Lieut.'X Herd. The tuneful march, "The Diamond King"-(Browii), was excellently ' played, as was the more difficult contest selection, "Nabucco" (Verdi). Other items Tendered were a, solo and chorus, "Queen of Summer" (Powell), and a number of other items. . A' military march, "Heroes of Gallipoli," composed by Bulch in honour of the gallant Anza'cs, was well received.. . Mr. Hamilton Hodges contri- . buted Mr. Alfred Hill's song,,"My Fairest Child," with excellent effect, and. Accom- • panied by the, band, sang "Drake Goes West" (Sanderson).. Miss Elsie Turner ■ ■('cello), Mr. Jean Turner (piano), and Mr.. N. Watson (violin) capably rendered a trio. "Czardas" (Michieles). while Mr. A. M'Donald contributed a flute solo, "Weigenlied" (Drolla). The lady members of Mr. J. G. Turner's mandoline orchestra met with considerable success in their ren- ' dering of the grand march, "Flower of Hawaii" (Liliukalini). . . ,' The Manunui Town Board, Dargaville, invite tenders for' the supply, of steel ivater pipes.
