BURGLARS AT WORK
£130 WORTH OF, PROPERTY stolen: : A burglary occurred on Tuesday afternoon, the premises robbed being a private house in Oriental Day. Jewellery and a small amount of monoy were taken, the total value of the haul .being about £130. For some timo past these undetected burglaries have been occurring in Wellington. Always the i thefts are from private'houses, and always when the occupants are away from | home. It appears, also, that .the robber chooses his'victims, with.'some discrimination, _ watches •carefully, for his opportunities, and usually gets away with a fairly , valuable' "swag.". This aifaii of Tuesday happened in the afternoon, like several of 1 the others, that have occurred. One rather distressing fact about this robbery is' that among tho articles stolen was the maid's engagement ring, given her by her affianced before he loft for the war. The young man was killed in action at Gallipoli. =
