PROTEST OF TAXI-DRIVERS.

A meeting of the newly-formed Horse and Taxi-Cab Proprietors and Drivers' Association was hold last night, for tho purpose of protesting against the proposed by-law of the City Council, compelling horse and taxi-cab drivers to wear distinctive badges. The meeting was largely attended, and a strong feeling was manifested. After a long discussion on the subject, the following resolution was passed :—"That this meeting of horse and taxi-cab proprietors and drivers enters its emphatio protest against the proposed by-law of the City Council, compelling them to wear distinctive badges; and that a deputation bo set up to wait on the City Council re the same."

Mr. J. Proctor was elected secretary of the association.
