PILLION RIDING ON MOTORCYCLES.
Sir, —A correspondent in yesterday's Dominion- writes asking if any accidents have happened in the City owing to pillion riding on motor-cycles. ■ In my opinion, and I can speak from experience, it is a very dangerous practice, mid a matter which not only the City Council' should, take up, but the Government should step in and pass a law prohibiting that dangerous practice, which has resulted in 60 many acci* dents. I have been thrown off twice with damage to myself, passenger, and: niachine, one of the chief reasons being that with the!extra weight on the back the driver has not proper control over'the steering-gear. Young ladies,'no doubt, like the trip 1 on the back, until they-have had an accident, which, may very easily occur, and I think in the interest of oyclists a law should b9 passed which not only protects them, but the public, as well, and at the same time prevents the abuse of the machine.—l am, etc., EXPERIENCED MOTOR-CI'CLIST.
