ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
AN INQUEST.
Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, Coroner, held an-inquest yesterday afternoon into the circumstances connected with the death of Kathleen May Miles, at the Lah-, mann Health Home at Miramar. Deceased was a married woman, who came from Marfan on March 10 to be; treated for neurasthenia. •: An effort was made to procure a special nurso for the case, but one was not available. Deceased was closely attended by the staff nurses, but during a period when she was alone for a few minutes after dinner, she /seized a knife and severed an artery in her throat, death occurring within a fetf* minutes. After hearing thd evidence of' the doctors and nurses wlio attended the patient, the Coroner returned a verdict of death from a wound self-inflicted, while temporarily insane.
FALL OVER A BANK. Alan Greenman, a lad of about 18 .l'fara of age and residing at the Upper Hutt, was admitted to the _ Hospital last "evening suffering from injuries to bis head. The lad was 'driving a dra.v at. the Hutt when it fell over a'bank some 15 feet high. He was fortunately thrown clear of the falling vehicle, but sustained considerable injury_ to Jis head. No cha-ntre in his condition was' reported last night. A RAILWAY FATALITY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. / . Creymouth March 23. At 8.30 o'clock this morning a' man named Sheady, 40 years of age, single, a sawmill hand employed at Inehbonnie, was found dead on the railway line between Jackson's and Otira. It is sup-posed-he was run over b,y the 3.30 p.m. Srmouth to Otira train.
