' BIG INCREASE IN BUSINESS. The report of the working of ,the Electric Light Department of the City Council presented to the committee yesterday snows a substantial increase in revenue for ■ February, compared with the corresponding month, of last. year. Whilst revenue has increased by £924-, the working expenses have only gone up £7, The February figures are as follow:— 1916. 1915. Revenue £4,496 • £3,572 Working expenses £2,180 £2,173 Capital charges ... £1,528 £1,523 Credit balance £793 — Debit balance — £124 Units sold ( 250,627 193,652 New ; connections '■ made during the month '. 124. 89 The figures for tho eleven months of tho financial year ended February 29 show that the revenue has increased £4620, while the working expenses have increased by only £558.
