As tho result of a visit to tho cellar ,oi the Town Hall, it was seen that tho rush of the public to buy disinfectant is still unabated. On Saturday morning last the number'of people who wished to "swat the'germs" was so great that the two men who preside over the sale of tho disinfectant, could not attend to them all, and some had to leave with empty bottles. All dav yesterday people— mostly women and children—filtered down to the corporation's perfumery to ask for "six pennorth of the stuff for infantile paraly- ?' s > ml as °"G old lady humorouslv piitit- The quantity sold is limited to ono pint per person. Though this.is cheap —the council'lose money on tho sale of it—people might remember that it only requires ono tablespoonful to a bucket of water to make an effective wash for a backyard or outhouse (i D"p. till yesterday 170 gallons of vacuum." "izol," and "brcozeon" had been sold, so that Wellington's drains are receiving attention that is not likely to do them anything hut good.
