DOCTOR'S LETTER FROM EGYPT

N.Z. MOUNTED BRIGADE. By TeloKTOph-fSpccial OorrcsponrtcuU Wanganui, March 20. Dr. Hammond Christie, writing to his parents from Font do Ivoubboh Hospital, Cairo, under da to January 23, says:—"Wo aro gradually settling down to'our work. lam very lucky at being in tho fiaso Hospital, as it is the placo where the work is done. There is nothing doing in camps, as there is no fighting, and, of course, there are too many doctors there, now that a number li'avu come back from Gallipoli. However, things will right themselves in a couple of montlis, as if there is to be no lighting on the Canal the New Zealandcrs arc bound to be sent where there is some, for they aro too good to be wasted. Our future seems rather uncertain, but there is a feeling that the Australians and Now Zealanders will bo sent to Greece or Franco in tho spring, so if they go wo are almost certain to bo sent, too. "To-day I saw a magnificent sight. The whole of the New Zealand Mounted Brigade, 3000 strong, left camp absolutely equipped for war, water, ammunition, and spare horses, etc., with them. Bands played them out, and it was a most inspiring sight. They woro splendid men, anil tho horses were really wonderful, very fresh and excited. It was the first timo they had gone out as mounteds, as they have always been used as infantry before."

Writing a week later, Dr. Christie says;—"Wo have 1000 patients in hern and five of us to look after them, so that there is not much time to gad about. We were informed the other day by a passenger from' l England that :i torpedo-boat had just caught two German submarines quite near Gibraltar while they were being supplied with oil by an American ship.
