The following is from the-annual re- > horfc of the secretary of tho, Wellington 'Harbour ifioard: — Tho number of bales of wool and skins shipped .during the. year .ended 7 September 30, .1915, . exclusive of transhipments 'overside', was 181,295 bales, as compared with 162,875 bales for the ■ preceding year, an increase of 18,420 Males, equal to 11.3 per cent., and con:■'tlituting a noiv record for the port, the jprevious 'best being 165,955 hales in : 1912-13. , - < • - ' -•

( The.total shipment of wool, skjns, hemp'and : towd over the wharves, exclusive of transhipments overside from .vessel to .vessel; amounted to, 275,305 bales as compared with .261,656 bales, an increase of 13,749'ba1e5, or 5.2 por cent.
,Tho combined total of wool and hemp shipped from shore and rail during tbo. :rjear endeel September 30, 1915, increased, as compared with the: figures for. ;tEe preceding year by 10,885 bales, or .6.3 per cent., wool having . increased from 121,553 Dales to 135,716 bales, a total of 14,163 bales, or 11.6 per cent., .whilst hemp decreased from 49,633 bales to 46,355 bales, a falling, off of 3278 bales, equal to 6,6 per cent. -' \ Out of a total of 181,295'. bales of wool and skins and- 94,010 bales of liemp and tow shipped over the wharves during the year ended September 30, 1915, 107,437 bales- of- wool and- skins arid 16,089 bales of hemp;"and tow, or '69.2 and 17.1 per cent;,'respectively'of the totals, were dumped by the board, or, .jointly 123,526 bales were dumped by the board out of 275,305 • bales shipped, or 44.8 per cent., as , compared with 109,719 bales (41.94 per, cent.), ,168,743 bales (56 per cent.), 141,347 bales (56J1 per cent.) and .142,745'ba1es 1(59.29 per, cent.) in the -four preceding years. ■ ■ Thfe number of bales of wool, skins/ "hemp, and' tow upon which the aboard, received storage during the ; twelve ■months just ended amounted to 176,071, or 63.9 per cent! of :the bales shipped,'.: as against 148,822 bales (55.7 per cent.); and 245,220 bales (81.4 per-cent.)-in-Stlje'two preceding years. The/revenue, •received from storage charges on wool, ■skins, hemp, and tow was £5927," as jompared with £6503 and £75475 in the iwo previous years. ■. 1 -.;
