THE NEWTOWN-WELLLINGTON PENNANT MATCH.
Mr. Sidney Underwood, secretary of the Newtown Bowling Club takes exception to the doubt that has been expiossed that it was tlie condition of the green which prevented his club making their green available for play in. the Pennant match on Saturday, when their opponents—Wellington; Club—were ready and willing to play. He says that'tlio green-keeper was unable to get on the green to cut and roll the grass during the morning, and that lie tried in vain to get into touch with the club during the forenoon to know what their intentions were, until finally they rang up the .secretary of the Centre (Mr. J. .1. Roberts) and informed hin: that the green was not fit to play on. It was true that there-was play on tlie club's green during tho afternoon, but that the games wore played against tho advicc of nt least t\vo members of the Uiaea Committee...
