MASTERTON ITEMS
Sunday was observed as a day of humiliation and prayer at the Masterton Presbyterian Churches, on account of the war.
At a meeting of the Masterton Horticultural Society on Friday evening a deficit of £19 4s. lid. was leported on the autumn show.
Mr. W. Palamonvain has. received advice of the death of his father at Napier. The late Mr. Pnlamontain was formerly a resident of Masterton. Owing to tho .outbreak of infantile paralysis, the schools in Masterton have been thoroughly disinfected 1 . A general clearing up has also taken place at private residences.
There are at present thirty-five patients in the Masterton Hospital, including ten in the isolation ward. The half-yearly circuit sitting of the Supreme Court opens in Masterton tn Monday. The criminal calendar is very light. A large quantity 0/ grain is still in stack in the Masterton district.
Very heavy rain fell throughout tho Wairarapa on Friday night. It has relieved tho situation so far as the shortage of water on the out-stations is concerned.
