MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr. D, G. A. Cooper, S.M.,\ presided at Saturday's sitting of tho Magistrate's Court, when four first offenders for insobriety appeared l>eforo hiin, to be treated in the usual lenient manner. In the case of Benjamin Bronkhiiret, who had obtained, the sum of £2 by meana of a valueless cheque, it was stated that full _ restitution had been made. The Magistrate convicted Bronlchurst, and ordered him to come up for sentence when called upon. Charles M'Anally -was remanded until this morning on a charge of disobedience of a maintenance order. Penalties for insobriety were imposed on. the following—Joseph William Georgeson. fined 405., with the option of»sevcn days imprisonment; John Winn, lined 205., or three days' imprisonment; William' James and James Burns, fined lfls. each, or 48 hours' imprisonment.
