RED CROSS WORK.
Sir f —l am glad that at last' there has been something done or commenced to be done in the way of organising the output and control of the different societies in connection with B.cd Cross work. -Although it is a long cry from December 6, 1915, to March 17, 1916, it is better late than. nevor, although it is better never late. lam sorry I was not able to attend the meeting at the Town Hall on Thursday, being out of town, but' I am glad to notice that my letters to you on December' 16 and a few days following have brought forth good fruit, and that all my recommendations are being carried out; and, if properly carried out, they will do a great- deal to stop overlapping. As a matter of course, no reference was made to the source of inspiration, but that does not matter, except as to waste of time. This should have been done precious months ago. Mr. Luke's proposal should have been made twelve months ago. I was in Christchurch early in February, and called on the Red Cross there, where I found my proposals already in work, and they woro i doing good work, arid found thoir Systran working well. There is one thing I should like to '])omfc out: that there should be some real business men on the board of management. A lawyer or accountant or professional man cannot be expected to know how a shirt, vest, 'or pyjamas should be made, or about tho numerous things wanted at the base. It is not only their presence that is wanted, but work to pack a bale, handle goods, or even roll bandages. I am glad to have been the means of doing some good by giving assist-' ance and advice, and am still willing to help Red Cross work in my particular branch.—l am, etc., J. MORRISON.
