On the lato night tho finishing time is 9 p.m. Under the old award, master hairdressers could choose any afternoon of the week as a half-holiday; in the new award tho choice is restricted to two dajls. either Wedneisdaiy or Saturday afternoon. : , 'J'lie effect of tho hairdressers finishing work at 7 p.m. will, it is stateu, hit the employer very hard, as only tho employer is allowed to work the saloon after 7 p.m. Ho thus finds himself in a most trying position. At a meeting of the Master Hairdressers' Association, held on. March 7, the new position was fully discussed, and it was decided to consider at a special meeting the desirability of closing both shops and saloons at, 7 p.m., thus bringing the finishing time of the wholo trade into line.
