Dalgetj and Company Tiinntotl have received the following cablegram from their London house, under dntc March 13:— for' tho third series of sales, the list of arrivals closed on March 10, with a. gross total of 203,0(10 bales, of which 122,000 bales were forwarded direct. The market is steadier, and competition is keener. Russia, is buying at present. Beet scoured is quoted at about last sale rates, whilst good greasy merinos are generally 5 per cent, lower. ' SOUTHERN -MARKETS. - By Telegraph—Press Association. ChrlstQhurch, March 14. ITio local wheat market has been very Quiet during the last few days. Buyers have been indifferent about making offers, and the grain offerings also heve fallen off. The cutting of the prices for flour by southern mills' tended to weaken the market for wheat, and caused local millers to be more cautious in buying. Solid straw I'uscau wheat sold as low as 4s. at a country station, other varieties are without change.
There is good inauiry !or prime malting Parley, and a sale of an extra good sample wrfs made at s*. 9d. At ,e country station. The top price for ordinary good malting barley is ss. 6d. Oats are dull of sale, and inferior samples are easier. The Southland market is weaker, and has affected the prices locally. There is practically no demand for oatslieaf chaff.
