CANADIAN SOLDIERS RIOT
SCENE IN QUEEN'S THEATRE v
By. TelegTaph—Press Association—Copyright London, March 12.
'Jlie "Weekly Dispatch" states that two hundred Canadian soldiers secured seats in the Queen's Theatre, and ridiculed and -stopped a silly melodrama called "The Love Thief," believing that it derided Canada and the Canadians. The disorder was not serious until ,the military police interfered. Many arrests were made, some of the disturbers being handcuffed. The men had been previously warned on the parade ground not to interfere with the performance.' Mr. Edward Sass, an actor well known in Australia, who is appearing in a most unenviable part, when interviewed, declared that the students' riot in Melbourne, when a coffin was lowered from the gallery, was nothing compared with. this. . Some copper coins were thrown on. the stage, one of which struck a girl on the face.
