MILK INSPECTION
- : GOVERNMENT TO-, MAKE REGULATIONS. At last evening's meeting of the City Council tile following recommendation from th? .Public Health Committee dent ing with the vexed question of milk inspection was agreed to:>— "That they have received a reply from the Minister of Public Health advising the council that he will be prepared to recommend the Government to make the necessary regulations under Section 288 of the Municipal .Corporations Act, 1908, for the appointment by , tho council of an Inspector of Milk and Dairies, with powers under the \ Sale of Food and Drugs Act, 1908, such officer to 'be an officer of the City Council, the Government incurring no responsibility as to salary, etc. The committee have to recommend that the officer in charge of the .Discharged Soldiers' Bureau be requested to send suitable applicants from among the discharged soldiers on his books for selection for the position. Failing a suitable persoii being available from this source; public applications be invited for the position." Before the motion was put, Councillor Godber, chairman of the committee, was given permission to add a line to the effect that the Government ba forthwith asked to make the necessary regulations. • .
