DISPUTE OVER A GAS PLANT JUDGMENT RESERVED. Judgment was reserved by His Honour Mr. Justice ILoslcing in tiie Supremo Court yesterday afternoon in the case of Henry Thompson Johnson v. Clias. W. Martin, a claim for .CISI) JOs. Sd.j in connection with a dispute about a gas plant. The hearing commenced on Monday morning, and some particulars of the claim were published in yesterday's issue. Mr. A. W. IJlair appeared for the plaintiff. while Mr. T. Neavo appeared for tlio defendant. NAPIER CRIMINAL .SESSIONS. Br Telegraph—Press Association. Napier, March 7. In tile Supreme Court, opened to-dav, Mr. Justice Edwards regretted the increase in criminal cases. Frederich Thomas Ulp-li pleaded not guilty to a charge-of carnal knowledge and iuclecent assault oil. a Maori girl aged eleven years. In tlic witness box the girl refused to say one word. Without rctir ing, the jury returned a verdict of "Not Guilty'." Ngha. Eangi, charged with carnal knowledge of a girl under 18, pleaded "not guilty, and ivas discharged. Henry Baker, charged with entering a dwelling with intent to commit a crime, and with assaulting Sarah Masters, an old lady, was found guilty oil the first count and not guilty on the second. Sentence was deferred.
