THE £25,000 CAMPAIGN,

The effort of the Y.M.C.A. to reach £25,000 for its war work is meeting with a satisfactory response. The following additional subscriptions have been received since the publication of last week's list in The Dominion, During the week tho following amounts were receive;:! per the Wairarapa Patriotic Committee, and were included in last Saturday's acknowledgment of £370 ss. The secretary of the Y.M.C.A. at Ohristcllurch' has received the follow iug message from the Headquarters of Hie New Zealand Military Forces, We], li'n'gton:— ■ "Have to advise you that the followcable lias this' day been received from _ Headquarters, New Zealand Expeditionary Force, Cairo: ."Transmit following message to Brownell, 3L.M.C.A., Christehurch: at extent of work being carrTed out ill face of tremendons difficulties in the field. It is enormous, and has barely been touched. There i 3 a continuous arrival of fresh troops. Mr. Jessop is receiving numerous requests from the commanding officers to establish centres, A new campingground is being formed, and at considerable distance. New Zealand's £10,000 will be more than wanted. We urge that the Government of ■■ New Zealand should allow in each troopship at least ono experienced secretary of mature years, if possible. The Esbenda Gar. dens arc being extended, 'and a large new scheme for a' hostel and club for troops is being arranged. Unlimited extension of the work in all the camps' can be carried out, and is wanted immediately. Financial control is satisfactory."
