The case'of J. J. Niven ami Co. v. tho Salvage Association, Loudon, was advanced another stage in the Supreme Court yesterday. The action involves considerable claims respecting the salving of the cargo, etc., of the steamer Star of Canada, which was wrecked near Gisborne in 1912. . Mr. Justice Chapman commenced-the delivery of his judgment in the case. His Honour's review of the proceedings and his statement of his' conclusions occupied an hour in the reading. He held, among other things, that 'the plaintiffs were entitled to recover half of the • amount of about £7000, which was the value of property salved. The actual form of . the judgment was not announced, and the case will again bo dealt with on Tuesday. ;
