WELLINGTON CLUB. Jn its annual report, tlio committco «1 tlio Wellington Golf. Club states tliat, tiding to the war, 'men's.-club competitions and all intcr-club competitions weio abandoned during the year. In addition to the 29 members named in the last annual report, the following have .joined the Reinforcements or proceeded t.o England to enlist during tlio year Messrs. 'A. de B. Brandon, jun., G. ]?. Jolmstcfn, F. F. Newman, T. J5. \ 7 . Scddon, A T eil l'earce, G. H. Fell, Dr. Jlaroliant, V. G. R-hind, Dr. Young, Dr. Tolliurst. The committee records with sincere regret the deaths of the following members: —T. -M. Grace, Leslie Bear.champ (both while on activo service). L. G. Jfaekay, and E. S. Pearce. On Juno 27, the Trentham Camp hospital authorities applied to tlio committee for the use of the golf house for tlio accommodation of jion-infectiouu cases, owing to the serious outbreak of sickness at the camp endangpring. the lives of the soldiors. The committee cheerfully acceded to the request, and the house was occupied as a hospital from Juno 27 to August 14. Members were 110 doubt put to great inconvenience thereby, but the committee feel sure that every member will endorse their'action under the grave circumstances which existed. MIR-AMAR CLUB. About forty members" attonded the eleventh annual meeting of the Miralnar. Golf Club, held in the Chamber of Commerce last' evening. Mr. J. P. Firth (president) occupied the chair. 11l moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, Mr. Firth referred to the fact that no fewer than sixty members "had answered the call to arms. . As far as the club was concerned, this was nothing. Jf so many men enlisted as to imperil the club's existence altogether it ..would be nothing. They lwd to learn to. separate the things that did not matter from the things that mattered. He oxpressed the hope that tlw club would do its duty as a club in the matter- of providing funds for patriotic purposes during the coming year. After the report and balance-sheet had been adopted members engaged in a general discussion, mainly 011 the question of laying out the club house and grounds. x ; Officers for the coming j'ear ' wore elected as follow: —Patron, His Excellency.the Govornor; president, Mr. J. Firth; vice-president, Mr. AV. A'. Kennedy; captain, Mr. W. E. A. Gill; secretary and treasurer, Sir. G. 0. Sutten; committee, Messrs. T. Brotlie, M. J. Cro'mbie, A. Erskine, J. S. Holmes, P. Spraggon, and 11. P. Ward; auditor, Mr. George Shand. r In thanking members for again electing him captain of the club, Mr. Gill drew particular attention to the excellent work that had been done on the committee by Messrs. Horton, Lawrence, Richardson, and Viekcry, who were liot seeking re-election. It was resolved to place on record the work done by the gentlemen named. JOHN3ONVILLE CLUB. The fourth annual report of the Jchnsonville Golf Club states: —Starting the year with a .bank balance of £7 lis. Bd., the treasurer rccoived from all sources the sum of £216 175., making the total receipts for the year £224 85..3d. With the exception of £10 Bs'. lid. now 111 the batik account, the whole of this has been disbursed under various headings shown 011 the attached ,'iecoiirit. Various rents totalling £4 9s. 4d. accrued to January 31, 1916, but.not vet clue, and wages £6 accrued and payable, totalling £10 9s. 'Id., form the o.'iiy outstanding liabilities of the club. those there are assets valued at £40 19s. lid., leaving the club's balai.'ce-of assets over liabilities at £30 10s. 7d. The committee is of the opinion that members have every reason to congratulate themselves on the healthy state of the finances. Throughout tho season the- greens were maintained in splendid order, and some excellent medal rounds were put up as a result of the improved putting conditions. On the hillside greens the construction "work has been completed, and they stood the strain of tho season's play, very satisfactorily. The last of the hillside greens to ho put in hand, viz., No. 6, has been reconstructed during tho year and will he ready for play early in the approaching season. Having , completed this extensive and expensive work the committee now recommends the incoming committtee to devote timej money and attention to the improvement of the approaches and after that the fairwajs. During the season 13 ordinary members (men) and one lady ordinary member departed 011 active service and.will bo placed on the club's list of absent members free of subscription. The opening day has been fixed for Saturday, March 18, 1.916.
