PRESENT STEAMER CONTRACT EXPIRING. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, March 1. It was understood that the Matatna leaving this month, would be the last cargo vessel to make the run from Montreal to New Zealand direct under the present contract, but private advices received here state that the Canadian Government has arranged for more cargo steamers to follow the Matatua in the Montreal-New Zealand trade.
