SOLDIERS' RACfIJS. Probably on account of'.the threatening appearance ■of the weather there were very few of the public present at I Te Aro Baths on Saturday afternoon, when, under the auspices of the "Wellington Centre, a "soldiers' afternoon" was held. The swimming generally was of a liigli standard, and considering the difficult' task the handicappor was faced with the finishes were quite good. Ser-geant-Major Warren oarned the thanks of the Centre for his efforts to interest the soldiers in camp in the events. WEST CO APT SCHOOL CHAM- > HONSHU'S. . By Telegraph—(Special Correspondent.) Wanganui, February 26. The West Coast Bcliool swimming championship, held under tho auspices of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association, took place to-day. when M. Wise, of the Girls' College, won tho gold medal, and Dorothy Tilly, of Queen's Park, the silver medal., The boys' championship was won by J. Johnstone, Queen's Park School; ho was an easy winner in four events— 50yds., 75yd5.,, 100 yds., and 150 yds. The silver medal was won by A. W. Tilly (Gonville).
