CITY CRICKET

NEW ROUND BEGINS

SOME FINE BOWLING

Another round of matches in the Wellington Cricket. Association's senior championship commenced on Saturday. A light shower of rain fell during the afternoon, but passed over too quickly to interfere with the play. Tlnee fixtures were set down for decision at the Basin Reserve, and two of them had reached an advanced stage by the time stumps were drawn. Several remarkably good bowling performances were recor'ded during the ufternoon, notably those by Brice and Smyrk (Petone), Hiekmott and Sandman (Trenthum), Hiddlestone (North), and George (University). Both Trenthom and Petone appear certain to gain three-poin,t wins in their respective matches. . After the high score registered last week by Hutt, Saturday's effort came somewhat as a surprise. Against Old Boys, who put up 148 in the first innings, Hutt scored 104. Details of the scoring are as follow UNIVERSITY AND TRENTHAM. University—First Innings. Birch, b. HiqkniotP G foster, b.
