THE BROKEN HILL TROUBLE
• DELEGATES IN WELLINGTON. His Majesty's Theatre was well filled last evening, when a mass Labour meeting was held for the purpose of welcoming Messrs. A.- Carter and E. \Vetlierell, representatives of the Broken Hill miners, and hearing what thoy had to say regarding the industrial trouble which lias been disturbing that community for some three months past. Mr. H. E. Holland occupied the cnair, and said that the visitors had come to New Zealand to state their case, and appeal to tho trade unions for monetary support. During this week one of the delegates would go to Christchurch, and the other to the Woßt Coast, and asked that such unions that they could not
wait upon personally should appoint a delegate to make an appeal in support of the Broken Hill men.
The visitors then addressed the meeting at considerable length, and speeches were also made by Messrs. J. Roberts, R. Semplc, J. Glover, G. L. Glover, and C. Grayndler.
Mr. E. E. Kennedy moved, and Mr. Glover seconded —That this mass meeting of workers approve and endorse the action of the Broken Hill miners; that they sympathise with the men in their fight for better working conditions, and pledgo themselves individually and collectively to help the Barrier miners to obtain victory." This was carried unanimously.
During the evening the 'Waterside ■Workers' Band a number of selections, and Miss Nesbit recited _ a poem in praise of the miner. The cliairman announced that the collection at the doors and in the house had amounted to £48 17s. 9d. In order to defrav the cost of the meeting, and stall be in a position to hand over £50 to the fund, the chairman offered for sale German and Cingalese coins, which had been placed in the collection boxes.
