WOOLLEN COMPANY.S PICNIC
The_ annual picnic in connection with the Wellington Woollen Company's employees was held at Maidstone Park on Saturday. The weather was ideal and the outing was very successful. The results of tho sports were as follow:— Girls' race (under 5), Irene Sharon 1, Olive M'Millan 2; boys' race (under 18), H. Riddel 1, K. Barlow 2; girls' race (under 18), J. Leadbetter 1, M. Wakefield 2; hoys' blindfold boxing, K. Barlow; men's blindfold boxing, W. Langridge 1, 0. Wrack 2; gallops, J. M'Millan and W. Langridgc; woollon mill handicap, N. M'Dougall 1, B. Hope 2, J. Campbell 3; ladies' handicap, E. Ward 1, N. Leadbetter 2, R. Oliver 3; married men's race, R. Lindsay 1, J. Campbell 2; married ladies' race, Mrs. Ward 1, Mrs. M'Millan 2, Mrs. Campbell 3; ladies' tug-of-war, Misses Wakefield, Hulme (2), Leadbetter, Moreland, and M'Kinleyj men's tug-of-war, Mossrs. Sykes, Speight, Longbottom, M'Millan, Lindsay, and Warburtou; committee men's race, J. Campbell 1, H. Blacker 2; committee ladies' raco, R. Oliver 1, S. Hickey 2. The greasy pig event caused .much merriment, R. Lindsay being declared the winner.
