HOTEL EARLY CLOSING.

Sir,—One of your mischief-making correspondents, signing himself "Trust the Men,", is doing his uttermost to stir up strife and bad feeling by stating that the above niovenieht is an "insult to our soldiers," etc. I think such a remark an insult to the great Labour Defence Minister in Australia, Senator Pearce. Did he noti close the hotels early there? And with very good results, too, so the cable says. And yet your correspondent—who, of course, is writing quite disinterestedly --takes this chance to hit at his old enemies, the prohibitionists, regardless of who elso he may hit in the doing of it.—l am, etc., AUSTRALIAN.
