PETONE'S QUEEN CARNIVAL

At a meeting held last evening at the ketone Council Chambers, at which the Mayor of Petone (Mr. J \y M'Ewan) presided', further arrangements were made in connection with the holding of a monster carnival at Easter in aid of the Local Wounded nold.'ers Fund. Sub-committees were appointed to consider the question of holding a Queen Carnival, and also to arrange for a procession and sports gathering. Mr. A. Skinner was appointed general secretary, and Mr. Toomath assistant-secretary. It is probable that the Queen Carnival will be limited to children under 14 years of ace, and nominations arc to Ge called for Bhortly in this connection. The Mayor emphasised the need of a permanent active committee, for the purPose of organising holiday functions and so advertising the town. He suggested that a twenty thousand club nnglit well be formed in Petone.
