PIGEON RACING
' The first race of the season, under the auspices of_ the Hutt Valley Homing Pigeon Society, was flown on Saturday for a trophy presonted by Mr. Deuby, of I'etone. The results were as follow< From Palmerfrton (air line 72 miles). —Mr. W. J. Smith's Half Caste, velocity 1335 yds. per minute, 1; Messrs. Thomas and Clarke's All Bed, 1333 yds. per minute, 2; Messrs. Whitehead and Booth's Corroboree, velocity 1330 yds. per minuto, 3._ Messrs. A. and J. Booth's Kawhai, 1320 yds. per minute; •Messrs. W. and L. Booth's Merry Gain, I32ojds per minute; Messrs. England iSi<l Hudson's Bon Ami, 130oydsr per minute.
