GIBBES DOES THE HAT TRICK, Another round of matches in the Weilmgton Cricket Association's Championship ivhs completed on .Saturday at the Basin Reserve, when three oi* the fixtures were marked by some splendid bowling performances. Notable efforts with the ball were those by A. Wilson (Central), who secured nino Petone wickets in the two innings at a cost of 50 runs, Tucker (Old Boys), who captured eight East wickets for G1 runs, and Gibbes (East), whose average in Old Boys' second innings, was seven wickets for 49 runs. The last-named accomplished the "hat trick"-7Konaldson, Christie, and Stace veing out to him with successive balls. In the match against North, the team from Trentham Camp did not muster at full strength, and in consequence North had an easy 3-point win by an innings and 118 runs. . Central just obtained the runs in time to gain a ii-p/ait w ji (eight wickets to 6pare) over Petone, but East had not the time to obtain all the runs necessary to give them the same result against Old Boys. They had to be content with a 2-pomt win on the first innings. Hutt secured a three-point win against University. The latter scored Vii in the first and 176 in the second innings, but Hutt's enormous lead of 317 in the first innings prevailed. Defile of the scoring are:— NORTH AND TRENTHAM, Nortli—First Innings. Bowling for Occidental, Nelson took three wickets for 5 runs; King, two for 10; Warne, two for 20; Ijcddy, two for 60; and for Whitcombe and Tombs, Davis took one for 41. JUNIOII FIXTURES. Institute Old Boys defeated Wellington College by an innings and 79 runs. Institute's first innings yielded 2-10. Wellington College, in their first innings, mado 62, and in tho second innings 99 (Brodie 45, Pope 27). W. Garrod, five wickets for 26 runs, and E. Eenuer, five for 42, bowled best for the Institute team. After a. very cxciting finish, No. ,21 Compapy Cadets defeated St. David's by three wickets for 21 runs. Highest scores for the former wereMahoney 57, Ward 52, and Gray 27. No. 21 Company Cadets team played two men short.
