RETURNED SOLDIERS AND THE LAND

A confcrence adopted tlio scheme of settling returned soldiers on the land based on the War Committee's proposal, which includes that the Federal Gov. eminent .provide the necessary funds in the shape of loans to the various States, the monoy to bo advanced to applicants, at interest. not exceeding 3| per cent, for the first year, increasing } per cent, each subsequent year till bluv full current rate ,is reached, with special liberal repayment conditions. In order to provide subsidiary requirements the. public aro invited to subscribe iu cash or kind to a special repatriation fund. Soldiers who' have enlisted but not been sent to the front are to .be given the same privileges as returned 'soldiers. Also, it proposes tho immediate .establishment of training farms and under special liberal conditions.
