MOBILISING THE FOURTEENTH!

WELLINGTON QUOTA

The Defence authorities require imrnediately two permanent drivers and a first-class clerk for the Army Service Corps (Home Service). Applicants must be men who have been rejected as unfit for service in the Expeditionary Forces, for slight defects. On acceptance, the men selected will go into camp at Trentham. ' The following recruits have been sent into camp at Trentham as postal sorters for .the 10th Reinforcements:—E. E. Coghlan and James Charles G-reig. Yesterday's Enlistments. The following recruits were registered yesterday:— John Robert O'Connor, moulder (Infantry). ' William Charles Oliver, fireman (Permanent Driver). . , Keith Norman Jones, farrier (Mounted).. ~'•'. Alexander. William Thompson, lithographer (Mounted). Fourteenth Reinforcements. The 14th Reinforcements are to be mobilised on March 7, and No. 5 Group (Wellington City and Suburbs) has been called upon to supply 208 men, as follows:—Mounted Rifles, 37; Artillery, 16; Engineers, 9; Signallers, 3; Infantry, 139; Army Service Corps, 4. Those available on the books for the Mounted Rifles, Artillery, and Infantry of the 14th draft have now been called up, but for the Infantry there is a shortage of 99, which will require tn be made up. The men for the other branches of the service will receive their notices shortly.

The only difiicnlty in raising the City's quota, as already indicated, is in getting the Infantry. In order to facilitate this, it lias been decided to give parade notices immediately to men enlisting as available' for the 14th Infantry. The cmota will parade at the Drill Hall, Buckle Street, at 9 a.m. on March 6 for dental inspection, and will go into camp on the following day.
