Miss Mary Proctor, who lectured otf astronomy in New Zealand, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society.—Press Association. Mr. Pelham Warner, the cricketer,, is seriously ill, states a Press Association message from London. Mr. C. Bayly, of Toko, Taranaki, who ' went to England to enlist, has informed his friends that his services have been acceptcd by the Imporial authorities. Mr. H. P. Wyatt, who has been appointed Supervisor of Telegraphs at Oiristchurch, received a handsomO gold watch as a token of esteem from his confreres in Wellington. He left for the south on Friday evening. On Friday evening the members <)f the Mount Cook Police Forco presented Mr. G. A. Baskin, a member of the force, with a marble clock, on the occasion of his marriage. Senior-Sergeant Dew made the presentation, and Mr. Ikskin suitably replied.
