OVER 10,000 MEN
6 CITY'S FINE RECORD QUOTA FOR 13TH MARCHES OUT NAMES OP 15TH N.C.O.'S. •Wellington City and suburbs have now registered over 10,000 men for active service. Tho 10,000 mark was reached and passed at tho beginning of tho week, and the group lias now mado a modest start on its eleventh thousand. ■A Defenco estimate of the. total population of the City group is 90,000, so Wellington has now enrolled one-ninth of tho whole of its people. If all New Zealand has recruited as well as the City, well over 100,000 men have enlisted since the beginning of the war. The City's average sinco recruits wore first called for is 120 per week. Its best weeks exceeded 300. 13th Quota a Few Short, Tlie City, and suburban quota of men for the i3th Reinforcements left for the camps yesterday. The number of men who paraded on Monday for dental inspection was 52 short of the quota. Before the men marched out yesterday the shortage had been reduced to 18. Auckland's- quota of 600 men for the Thirteenth Reinforcements left for the south to-day. -The main body, which marched through Queen Street, was loudly cheered, the principal buildings being gaily decorated with flags. Rowland, Jeweller, 90 Manners Street, is the firm who are giving 15 per cent.
