STILL MORE MEN

A NEW DRAFT MOBILISATION IN PROGRESS CITY 52 SHORT A good deal of interest is being taken in the mobilisation of tho 13th Reinforcements, which is now in progress. Ono point which londs particular interest to the raising of this draft is the fact that it is the first force called up right clear of the holidays. The December and the January drafts went into camp short of men, and the only explanation offered -was holidays. This, the February, draft cannot have tho same excuse made for it if it is short in any great degree, for holidays' are not by any means general now. However, there is said to.bo little reason to expect a shortage of any oonsequenco in this current draft. In the last, several weeks the four military districts have all done well, and judging by the numbers of men' they have. ■ enrolled, nono of them are expected to send their quotas forward otherwise than at full strength. ' The City's Effort. The men from the Wellington Citr and Suburbs Group were to havo all paraded at Buckle Street Drill Hall yesterday morning. Most of the men T>ut in an appearance during tho dav, but at 6 p.m. the group was still 52 short of its quota. A shortage for yesterday was not difficult to predict, owing to the eleventh-hour decision to alter the day of parade. Tho men bad 1 been, notified to parade to-day, and a few days ago a change to Monday was. announced. Romo men, therefore, may come forward this morning. - In any case, the Group Office says it will have no difficulty in filling the 52 vacancies. Details of the City mobilisation are: Required. When the examination was made only a few men were taken exertion to, and none were thrown out. Those needing dental treatment will receive it in camr>. After the inspection tho men .were s"t free until this mornin' l . when they will march through the City en route for thA oamps. Prior to the inspection the men were required to swear on oath that they were of military age. This is a.now departure. It is said to be aimed chiefly at the over-ardent vouth who hides his lack of vears in order to serve his country, but it aonlies also to t.hnsp who are on tho other border of the age boundary. Dominion Recruiting.
