Rounding the turn Glenowl joined the leading division, while Ringform also made a forward move. On reaching the straight FabrikofF. retired, while Gold Coin put in a good run on the outside. At the distance Gold Coin and Multum in Parvo joined Slogan in the lead, and Gold Coin, finishing well beat Multum in Parvo by half a length, Slogan being a length away, followed by Ringform and Briar Patch. Kilboyne was in trouble below the distance, Good Hope going on in front, while Killena, The Toff, and Nones were all handy. On leaving the straight Rumania moved up, and at Cutts's he was well clear of Findhorn—Bee, Adjutant, and Down next. Turning into the back stretch Jeannot moved up, and at the mile post he was in second place behind Rumania, the pair being followed by Findhorn, Bee, and Down. There was little change over the next half-mile, and Rumania .was siill showing the way when the straight was reached. Once in line for home United Service mado a forward move, and at the distance lie was with Bee and Findhorn in the lead. An exciting finish ended in United Service beating Bee by a neck, with Findhorn a length and a half away third, followed by Jeannot, Down, Specialform, and; Rongahere. Time, 2min. 36 S-Ssec.
