A SUCCESTION.

PIQNIO FUNDS FOB A' WORTHIER END. Sir,—As many Government Departments and private firms are making arrangements for their annual picnics, the season for such outings having arrived, I would respectfully suggest to thoße who Lave the above in view tL'at instead of holding these picnics, all moneys raised for the purpose be placed to the oredit of, say, the Mayor's Patriotic Fund or our Wounded Soldiers' Fund. It does not seom quite the right thing to do to spend our time and money in unnecessary idlo pleasure whilst monoy is so urgently needed for so many purposes. There is another reason, and it is this: Many civil servants and employees of private firms have fallen in the fight, and it would be a fitting tribute to the memory of these fallen heroes to postpone all suoh picnics whilst the war lasts. —I am, etc., PATRIOTISM.
