Two officers of the Imperial Army arrived by tlio Rotorua. for the purpose if joining the defence staff of the Dominion. One was Capt. H. Cooper, of the sth Royal Irish Lancers, and the other, Cape. A. Neave, of the Essex. Regiment. Capt. Cooper,'as the result of his efforts during the first six months of the war, gained the Russian War Cross. His health prevented him from continuing at the front. Capt. Neave is taking up the position as assistant instructor in musketrv and machine-gun Work. Ho saw service at Gallipoli.
