W NEW ZEALAND ENGINEER'S PRIVATE OPINION OF THE STUDSBAKEII. TiTe tourist Motor Co., Hustings, knowing that we are closely interested in Studcbaker motors, have forwarded to ue a copy of a lengthy business letter sent them by Jlr. Allan H. M'Lean, tic engineer of theiT firm, who is at present in Detroit, investigating Iho claims of tho 1916 models of the great American automobile manufacturers. The Tourist Motor Co. havo very courteously given us permission to publish extracts from tho letter, and wo extract the following paragraph as likely to interest owners aud prospective owners of Studcbaker cars:— "My Jionost opinion about tho Studebaker car is that it is the bast value for money on tho American market, and as far as hnWii and workmanship are concerned it is second to none. I consider that we ■\yould bo foolish to take up the agency for any higher priced car that is built here, because if we repaint tho StudeDaker and equip it with wire wheels it would bo equal to tho Minerva in appear, nnco and quietness of running. 'Die en. pine is the cleanest designed one that I havo inspected." It may bo explained that Jlr. M'Lean's mission to America was to secure tho agency of a high-priced American car to take tho place of the firm's Silent Knight Minerva agency. There is a good market in llawke'e Bay. for the very best car obtainable, regardless of price. Mr. M'Lcitn's honest opinion regarding tho Studcbaker is that there is no American car 011 tiie market better than tho Studcbaker at any price. The five-seater touring Rtudobakcr (4-cylinder, ■>5 li.p.), with elccllic soli'-stsrter ai\d olco trie lights, sells in New Zealand for .£345, the three-soater Studcbaker, with same equipment, being priced at .£335.
