— v The Hon. Jas. Allen, Minister of Defence, who attended the reception to tha Willochra's sick and wounded at Diraeclin, will arrive from the south by tho Mararoa this morning. Capt. W ; J. Hardham, V.C., who was returning invalided to New Zealand by the Rotoma, disembarked at Hobart in order to undergo a slight operation. The date of his arrival in Wellington, thore- . fore, in uncertain. On Sunday Capt. Hardham's parents received a cablegram from him, stating: "All's well. Don't worry." ■ , Sir Joseph Ward, who has been in tho Rotorua district, and the Hon. Dr. M'Nab and tho Hon. W. D. S. MacDonald, who have been on a visit to Hawke's Bay, aro bcck in Wellington. Mr. C. A. Clulow, a London barrister, who arrived from England recently by the Tainui, is touring the North Island. Ho is to leave for Vancouver by the Niagara, from Aucklaud, on February 22. Mr. P. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, leaves Wellington for Napier today in connection with the drivers' dispute. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Vaile, of Auckland,_ will arrive in Wellington this evening from the north. It is their intention to tour through the South Island. Sir. M. Huffan, of tho Napier branch of Messrs. Sargood, Son, and Ewen, loft for Wellington yesterday to take a position lioro. Mr. S. Anderson, of Napier, according to our special correspondent, left on Saturday for England, where he intends to enlist. . Mr. E. Olifton, who lias been acting as Commissioner for New Zealand at tho Ptinamaz-Pacific Exposition at San Francisco, and his chief assistant, Mr. O'Brien, are returning to Wellington b.y the next 'Frisco boat. , Mr. E. K. Lomas, M.A. has been appouited assistant lecturer at the Wellington Training College, in succession to the late Mr. F. J. Morgan. Mr. George Hutchison, of Wanganui,' will leavo for San Francisco by the Monna on March 2, on route to England. Mr. J. Watson-Brown, general manager for Australasia for the Singer Sewing Machine Company, will lie in town to-day. ! Mr. Paul S. Latham, manager of tho ' King's Theatre, is on a business visit to New Plymouth.
