THE WILLOCHRA'S WOUNDED

RECEPTION AT TOWN HALL
His Worship the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) has arranged a reception to' be tendered to the wounded and invalided soldiers who arrived back from Egypt by the Willochra, and are to reach Wellington by the Mnraroa this morning. The men will leave the steamer by motor-cars at about 10 a.m., and the reception will be hold in the big Town Hall at 10.30 a.m. The function will bo conducted practically on similar lines to those held in tho past. ■ Citizens are asked to accord the men a warm welcome home, and to attend at the Town .Hall in good time for the recop tion. A fresh touch will be lent the proceedings by the presence of the FrancoTahitian troops, now in Wellington, who aro to bo formally welcomed to Wellington by the Mayor. Invitations have been extended to the Ministers of the Crown to be present, and the Prime Minister (Right Hon. W. F. Mnssev) the Minister of Finance (Sir J. G. Ward), and the Minister of Defence (tho Hon. Jas. Allon) will bo among those present. ' . A further complement of sick and wounded men will arrive at Auckland to-morrow. The Wellington, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, .and South Island men will bo brought south by train arriving here 011 Thursday afternoon.
TRAIN ARRANGEMENTS. Soldiers, ex ■ Willochra,. returning to their homes by rail, will entrain on dates and stations as shown hereunder: —(1) Auckland district and WellingtonTaumaranui —Men proceeding to their homes will entrain at Thorndon Station and travel by the usual Auckland mail which departs at 1.10 p.m. on Tuesday, February 1. . (2) Marton Junction-New Plymouth— Men proceeding to their homes between Marton Junction and New Plymouth will travel by the usual' New Plymouth express leaving Thorndon Station ' at 8.20 a.m. on Wednesday, February 2. These men will be accommodated overnight, the name of the hotel to be notified before leaving the ship. (3) Woodville-Na pier—Men proceeding to their homes between Woodville and Napier (including Gisborne) will travel by the Wellington-Napier express leaving Thorndon Station at 9.10 a.m. on AYednesdav, February 2. Accommodation as in (2). (4) Wellington-Masterton and Woodville (via Wairarapa)—Men proceeding to their homes between Wellington and Masterton will travel by the 4.25 p.m. train dparting from Lambton Station on Tuesday, February 1. Men proceeding homo between Masterton and Woodville will travel by the 7.50 a.m. train on Wednesday, Feb. 2. Accommodation as in (2) and (3). Should any men for Nelson or Pietoil arrive at Wellington they will pro-ceed-by s.s. Pateena leaving Jervois Quay Wharf (Berth No. 14) at 12 o'clock (noon), on Wednesday, February 2.

The Willochra's northern contingent, comprising 107 men-and six nurses, including Nurse Sinclair, who was in the Marquette disaster, went north by tho second express to-day. Tho Minister . of Defence accompanied them. TOFUA AT DUNEDIN *5 MORE RETURNED SOLDIERS. By Telegraph—Press Association, i Dunedin, January 31. : The Tofua arrived at noon with fourteen returned- invalided soldiers, who missed the AVillochra at Albany. The Tofua brouglit. the following wounded for the North IslandJohnsou, Layreik, Fuller, 'Robinson; also nine others for towns north of Wellington. . There are no cot cases. The above wounded will arrive in Wellington on Wednesday morning. MEN FROM SAMOA The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) received the following telegram from Mercer last night: "Twenty-two N.G.O.'s and men have arrived from Samoa. They travel on tho midday express and arrive in Wellington at 6.30 on Tuesday morning." The Mayor mil. welcome tho men on arrival at tho Thorndon station, and they will bo present at tho reception to the Willochra's wounded at tho Town Hall this morning.
