SCHOOL CHILDREN

SPECIAL TREATMENT CLASSES. One of the reforms instituted by tlie Minister of Education (the Ron. J. A. Hanari) iB in regard to the special treatment of children suffering from physical defects. This work has been placed in the hands of the physical culture and the Minister' has had classes established in various parts where education is being given in this direction. Dr. Macdonald, Medical Inspector of Auckland, is now an a visit to Wellington to'establish classes, and yesterday with the Minister and Mr. Just, Physical Instructor in Wellington, and Mr. G. A. Troup, visited the Boys', Institute, where boys' and girls' classes are being held. A number of children were examined by Dr. Macdonald, and instruction' was given to the physical culture expert a 6 to the condition, of the children and what treatment was necessary for each case. "It is expected," said the Minister, "that when the classes become known and the henefits to be obtained in them, there will be a largo increase in the attendance at the classes." The Minister ' also expressed his thanks to Mr. Iroup and those connected with the Boys' Institute for having provided rooms and baths, etc., for the classes. Recommendations for future procedure will bo made to the Minister by the experts.
