COLLEGE ROLLS OF HONOUR. Reference to the effect of the war on the University was made by Sir Robert btout, Chancellor, in his address to the senate yesterday. Tlio number of candidates for the entrance examinations was 1705 comparted with 1620 last year/' said. - Sir Robert Stout. "Tlio number of candidates examined for degrees , was 1355: last year the number was 1877. Many of tlio undergraduates in all the colleges have gone to the war. The returns are not complete ar.d arc being added to weekly. Those that were received at the office up to the.close of 1 tiro year showed- that from Auckland University College the total number that had gone to the front was 210; of those fourteen had been killed in action, two died jn hospital from sickness, three are missing-, and twenty-Wo have been wounded. In addition to these, thirteen have enlisted, including one lecturer, but had not in December entered camp. From Victoria University Collego 217 had enlisted and most of these have the front. From Canterbury College 122 were 011 active service, including one professor and one assisfauit. Otago Tjniversity lias sent 212 to the front, including one member of tho Council and .0110 professor, and of these 18 have lost their lives. 111 order to facilitate the departure of many students for tho front'oxtia examinations bavo been held.''
