Speaking at a conference arranged to devise a scheme for settling demarcation disputes'in the various trades at the Cockatoo Island Shipbuilding Yards, Mr. Jensen (Federal Minister for the Navy) warned unionists that if they persisted in inter-Stato disputes there was a danger of warship building in Australia being dropped. The Mutual Life and Citizens' Insurance Company is subscribing a million to the second war loan. They subscribed a similar amount to the first loan. THREATENED MILK FAMINE. (Rec. A milk famine is threatened through the South Coast suppliers refusing to further supply the companies at the present price of 10id. per gallon; they are demanding lid. The Government has undertaken to pay tho difference pending submission of the matter to tho Food Necessities Commission. RATING ON UNIMPROVED LAND VALUES. (Rec. Tho Lord Mayor, speaking at a reception, announced that bf> Loped shortly to give effect' to the first plank or the Labour platform, namely, uniformity of rating on unimproved land values only.
