Trent'ham Camp Orders state: '"On Christmas Day the troop train set down ill May Mom Camp Routine Orders to leavo Lam.bton Railway Station at 10.45 p.m. for May Morn, departed at 10.25 p.m.. This necessitated several men travelling by the 10.45 p.m. (Trentham troop train) as far as the Upper Hutt, at which two motor-cars were obtained for the journey to May Morn Camp. Tho party was composed of two officers (one of whom was the Camp Adjutant), and 12 other ranks, and tho fare charged was 2s. 6d. per head. The Railway Department to whom tho mistake in time of trains was entirely due have now agreed to refund this money. Claims for motor fares from those men concerned with . particulars of circumstances, forwarded through O.C. TJuits, will therefore be received by tho Camp Adjutant up to February 7 inclusive, after' which they will not bo recognised." .
There is quite a lot of talk about people' exploiting the soldiers, but there is at least one Wellington business man who has gone out of his way to offer concessions to "our boys/' Mr. A. E. 11. Rowland, jeweller. 90 Manners Street, offers 15 per cent, special discount off all soldiers' requisites, such as ivristlet watches, binoculars, etc.—Advt.
